A proprietary trading firm, or "prop firm", provides traders with capital to trade in exchange for a share of the profits. Instead of risking your own savings, you trade the firm's money after proving your skill.
Most prop firms use an evaluation challenge: you trade a demo account under specific rules, such as a maximum daily loss and an overall profit target, within a set number of trading days.
Pass the evaluation, and you're typically given a funded account — either a live account or a simulated one backed by real capital — where you keep a significant share of the profits, often 80–90%.
Prop firms are especially attractive to Zambian traders who have the skill but lack large amounts of trading capital. Just be sure to read the drawdown and consistency rules carefully before paying for a challenge.
