This Privacy Policy explains how Forex Zambia (“we”, “us”, “our”), operating forexzambia.com (the “Website”), collects, uses, shares and protects personal information about visitors and subscribers. We respect your privacy and handle personal data in line with the Data Protection Act, 2021 of Zambia and, where it applies to you, other data protection laws such as the EU/UK GDPR.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Forex Zambia is the “data controller” for personal information collected through the Website. You can contact us about privacy at [email protected].
2. What information we collect
Information you give us
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address and the date you subscribed.
- Contact messages: your name, email address and anything you include when you email us, plus our replies.
- Search queries you type into the site search box.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, language, referring website and the pages you visit, with dates and times.
- Usage data: which pages, articles and links you view or click, how long you stay, and general location (country or city level) derived from your IP address.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see section 5).
What we do not collect
Visitors do not need an account to read the Website. We do not ask for or store your trading account credentials, payment card details, national ID numbers or bank details. We do not knowingly collect special categories of sensitive data. Any account you open with a broker or prop firm is with that company, under its own privacy policy, not with us.
3. How and why we use your information (lawful bases)
| Purpose | Data | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Deliver and secure the Website, prevent abuse and fraud | Technical data | Legitimate interests / legal obligation |
| Send newsletters and educational updates | Email address | Consent (you can withdraw at any time) |
| Respond to enquiries and support requests | Contact details, message | Legitimate interests / taking steps you ask for |
| Understand how the Website is used and improve content | Usage data, cookies | Consent (where required) / legitimate interests |
| Measure the performance of affiliate links and comply with partner requirements | Click and referral data | Legitimate interests |
| Comply with law, respond to lawful requests and protect our rights | Any relevant data | Legal obligation / legitimate interests |
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Affiliate links and third-party services
Some buttons and links on the Website take you to brokers, prop firms and other companies through our redirect links (for example, forexzambia.com/go/…). When you click one, you leave the Website and your data is handled by that company under its own terms and privacy policy. Those companies (or their affiliate networks) may use cookies or tracking parameters to record that you were referred by us so they can pay us a commission. We do not receive your registration or trading details from them, other than aggregated or referral-level reporting.
We also embed content from TradingView (charts and technical-analysis gauges). Loading those widgets sends your IP address and browser information to TradingView, which may set its own cookies. See TradingView’s privacy policy.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use:
- Strictly necessary cookies - for example a session cookie and a security (CSRF) token that keep forms and the site working safely. These do not require consent.
- Analytics cookies - if we enable analytics (such as Google Analytics), these help us understand traffic and content performance. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent first.
- Third-party cookies - set by embedded content (such as TradingView) or by partners after you click an affiliate link.
You can control cookies through your browser settings (you can block or delete them, though parts of the Website may then work less well). You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
6. Who we share your information with
We share personal information only where needed, with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract, such as web hosting and server management, content-delivery and security services (for example Cloudflare), email delivery and newsletter tools, and analytics providers.
- Professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants and insurers, where necessary.
- Authorities, courts or regulators when we are legally required to, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- A successor if the Website or business is sold, merged or reorganised, subject to this policy.
7. International transfers
Our providers may process data outside Zambia, including in Europe and the United States. Where we transfer personal data abroad, we take steps to ensure it continues to receive an appropriate level of protection, such as using reputable providers with contractual safeguards, in line with the Data Protection Act, 2021.
8. How long we keep information
- Newsletter email addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Contact messages: generally up to 24 months after our last correspondence, unless we need them longer for legal reasons.
- Server and security logs: typically 12 months or less.
- Analytics data: in line with the settings of the analytics provider (commonly up to 14 months).
We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed.
9. How we protect your information
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on our administration area, regular updates and backups. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affecting you occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, and subject to legal conditions, you have the right to:
- Be informed about how your data is used (this policy).
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”) in certain circumstances.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
- Data portability where applicable.
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Zambia (or the authority in your own country).
To exercise a right, email [email protected]. We may ask you to verify your identity, and we will respond within the period required by law. To unsubscribe from the newsletter, follow the unsubscribe instructions in our emails or write to us and we will remove you.
11. Marketing emails
We send educational emails and updates only to people who subscribed. You can opt out at any time. Even if you opt out, we may still send essential service or legal messages.
12. Children
The Website is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Links to other websites
The Website contains links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please read their privacy policies.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The “Last updated” date shows the current version. We encourage you to review it regularly; for material changes we will take reasonable steps to tell you.
